Covid-19 Impact: India school closures 'catastrophic' for poor students

Only 8% of the children sampled were studying online regularly and 37% were not studying at all, the survey found.
Primary and upper-primary schools in India have been closed for 17 months to curb the spread of coronavirus.
Few children were studying online: 24% in cities, and just 8% in villages.
64% of the children in rural India fear they might have to drop out of school if not provided with additional support to cope with the learning gaps in their curriculum, according to a survey.

Dropout Rate

Every Year 11 Lakh Children dropout School in Primary Education in Bihar.

Program Description

Mahila Evam Shishu Kalyan Parishad (MESKP) runs an initiative committed to reducing school dropout rates in children from backward families in rural areas of Bihar. Surveys revealed that lack of money to buy stationery, uniforms, textbooks and school fees is one of the primary reasons for dropping out of school. Those children are deprived of studies and start working to help their families.

MESKPs with the help of volunteers collect data based dropouts by contacting school officials and village families. In which children in the age group of 6-15 years who need assistance are identified. After this, these children are given school fees and gifts (stationery, uniform, textbooks and copies etc).

We will provide Education for every needy child because, Education is not a privilege, it is a right!
